Fresh tortillas, steps away from Casa Karma

On Calle 1, at the intersection of Avenida 20 (1st Street at 20th Avenue), is a tiny shop called “Tortillas de Harina.” These guys make the most amazing, fresh flour tortillas. The rolling machinery, grills and racks are all in view. The product is usually still warm in the package upon purchase.

The texture is perfect and they taste buttery (although maybe they are made with lard - I don’t know). I sometimes gobble down a few with nothing on them.

The people working at Tortillas de Harina are very friendly, but most only speak a little English. The prices are so low that I usually round up the cost to include a small tip, which seems appreciated.

The store is about a 12 minute walk from Casa Karma. Step out of the entrance from Fase 1, turn right on Avenida 10. Walk to the intersection of Calle 1 and turn left. Two blocks from there and on your left, just past the intersection of Avenida 20. It is worth the short stroll. YUM!
